Nollywood actress and singer Tonto Dikeh co-
hosted Iyanya's Kukere London Concert held
Sunday night. And at some point during the
show, the actress fell.
It was gathered that Tonto had al the signs
that she was drunk when she came on stage
to perform last night.
Report says her song was playing for her to
perform but she kept telling the crowd that
she can't wave because she did not shave her
armpit. Then she put her hand in the armpit,
staggering and shouting that when she was
in America they showed her love.
All this time she was supposed to be
performing, next thing she fell.

LK4 and Poketso evicted from Big Brother Africa
Having had two weeks of a love connection,
with a few forces against their partnership,
LK4 and Koketso have left The Chase tonight.
South Africa's Koketso didn't even know that
she was nominated. She had been placed on
the chopping block by Selly who preferred
saving Biguesas from Eviction.
The Ugandan Prince said a prayer earlier this
evening before the Rubies had their dinner.
Koketso was at his side as always, holding
her man's hand as he emotionally thanked
the Almighty for the time spent with 'friends'
and how much the BBA opportunity meant to
him. Maria was so touched by his words that
she thought Elikem was the one praying.
Koketso also felt very emotional just before
tonight's Evictions, saying that the Ruby House
is home to the Housemates for the next two
months but she wasn't aware that she'd be
leaving The Chase tonight. Everyone was so
sad.
When IK called out LK4's name on the Live
Show, he was standing next to his lady love,
Koketso, who held on to him for dear life as
Biggie was counting him down for his exit.
The rest of the Housemates came to hug LK4,
some crying and some wishing him well.
In the Diamond House, the poor Housemates
were obviously curious about what the third
House was for and who might be in it. They
therefore said a little prayer together, in an
attempt to suppress their gyrating nerves
saying, "As long as I know God, I will be ok."
On the flip side, Koketso and LK4 are now
free to pursue their relationship without the
limitations that came with the show. If their
connection was real then the pair ought to
continue it on the outside and see how far it'll
go. Good luck lovers.

Wedding Cancelled in Ekiti as Bride refuses to show up
A bride refused to show up at her wedding at
the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesa,
Ado-Ekiti, on Saturday resulting in the
cancellation of the wedding.
Our correspondent learnt that the groom, who
is from Ifaki-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government
Area of the state, was already in the church
but waited in vain for the arrival of his bride.
Her whereabouts were unknown hours after
the service had started.
The failure of the bride to show up, it was
gathered, forced the clerics to cancel the
wedding and invited guests reportedly left
one after the other, when it dawned on them
that the ceremony would no longer hold.
The Dean of the Cathedral, Very Reverend,
F.O Bankole, when contacted on the
telephone confirmed the incident to our
correspondent.
He said, "It is true that a wedding which was
planned to hold in the church today was
cancelled. The bride did not show up."
Bankole said he did not know why the bride
failed to showed up, but added that the
couple had been "having some issues since
they started courting."

How A Nigerian was beaten to death by South African Policemen
Five Limpopo police officers beat a
Nigerian man to death, the Polokwane
Magistrate's Court heard on Thursday.
"I put it to you that you beat him, he
fainted and you resuscitated him. He
woke up and… you beat him again,"
prosecutor Jacky Mabasa told the
officers during cross-examination. "You
also sprinkled water on him."
The five, Boitumelo Ramahlala, Mashiba
Mathata, Collins Sekoati, Thabo Mabotja
and Clement Tsotsane, face murder and
assault charges. They were applying for
bail.
They are accused of beating Onyechiabi
Iwuaka to death on May 21 while he
was visiting a friend. His friend escaped
the assault. Iwuaka died on the way to
the Polokwane police station.
The court was told the officers stopped
on the way to the police station to buy
water, as Iwuaka was bleeding from his
ears.
Mabasa said an ambulance was called
for Iwuaka after he died.
"The reason you cannot tell me
specifically what you did that day is
because you assaulted him. That's why
you cannot tell what you did," Mabasa
said.
The court was told Iwuaka was merely in
his friend's home, and was the wrong
person to be arrested.
The five evaded questions, and said they
never accused or hurt anyone. This
prompted magistrate Janine Ungerer to
question if they shared the same holding
cell. She suspected they had coached
each other on how to respond to
questions.
The bail application was postponed to
Monday.

ASUP Strike Update: on Polytechnic Resumption Date
ASUP STRIKE UPDATE
Information reaching us indicates that THE
federal government have slated a date to
dialogue over the
ongoing industrial action embarked upon by
polytechnic
lecturers. NIPOSAC gathered that the 24th of
June has been fixed for the supposed
meeting in Abuja.
Also there are speculation that the
seven weeks old strike might be
suspended on that day if a compromise is
reached.
Meanwhile on Wednesday 5th of
June, the south west wing of the Academic
Staff Union Of Polytechnic met in Ibadan the
capital of Oyo state to deliberate on the same
strike issue.
NIPOSAC also learnt from a reliable source
that some faction of ASUP especially the 23
members of the
National Executive Council who voted for the
suspension of the
strike at the last NEC meeting in May are
wary of the harm the
prolong strike would have on the academic
calender of their
respective institution.
However all hands are on desk toward the
forthcoming meeting in a fortnight which most
stakeholders believe will break the cord of
the strike
action either by unanimously
resolution or individually back-out.

Treatment, Causes and Prevention of Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer
The stage (extent) of a mesothelioma is an
important factor in determining treatment
options. But other factors, such as whether the
doctor feels the cancer is resectable (all visible
cancer can be removed by surgery), as well
as a person's general health and preferences,
also play a role.
Mesotheliomas can be hard to treat, whether
the cancer is resectable or not. It's very
important that you understand the goal of
treatment before it starts – whether it is to try
to cure the cancer or to help relieve symptoms
– as well as the possible benefits and risks.
This can help you make an informed decision
when looking at your treatment options.
Resectable mesotheliomas
In general, most stage I and some stage II
and III pleural mesotheliomas are potentially
resectable, but there are exceptions. Whether
a tumor is resectable is based on the subtype
(most doctors believe only epithelioid and
mixed/biphasic tumors are potentially
resectable), where it is located, how far it has
grown into nearby tissues, and whether or not
a person is healthy enough to have surgery.
Many patients with resectable pleural
mesothelioma have their cancer removed by
pleurectomy/decortication (P/D) or
extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP). Surgery
is more likely to result in long-term benefit in
stage I cancers, where there is a better
chance that most or all of the cancer can be
removed. For these early-stage cancers, EPP
may be a good option if it can be done. It
offers the best chance to remove the cancer,
but it is a complex and extensive operation
that can also have major side effects. Patients
with early-stage peritoneal mesotheliomas
might also benefit from surgery. Some
patients can have long remissions after
extensive surgery by experts. Surgery may
still be helpful for later-stage cancers, but the
benefits are more likely to be short term.
Sometimes, the surgeon may think the cancer
is resectable based on imaging tests (such as
CT scans) done before surgery, but once the
operation starts it becomes clear that not all
of the cancer can be removed. In these cases
the surgeon may switch to a less extensive
operation (which is less likely to cause side
effects) or even stop the surgery altogether if
it is not likely to be helpful. Treatment would
then be the same as for unresectable
mesotheliomas (see below).
Doctors are still studying whether giving
chemotherapy before surgery (neoadjuvant
therapy) or giving chemotherapy or radiation
therapy after surgery (adjuvant therapy) is
helpful. Some doctors prefer to give
neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and many
doctors advise adjuvant chemotherapy or
radiation therapy, but not all doctors agree
on what the best course of treatment is.
If you are not healthy enough to have a major
operation, radiation therapy and/or
chemotherapy may be used instead. While
these treatments may shrink or slow the
growth of the cancer for a time, they are not
likely to result in a cure.
If you have symptoms because of fluid
buildup in the chest or abdomen, other
approaches such as thoracentesis/
paracentesis or pleurodesis (described in the
" Surgery" section) may be helpful.
Because these cancers can be hard to treat,
taking part in a clinical trial of a newer form
of treatment may be a reasonable option.
These types of studies are usually done in
large medical centers.
Unresectable mesotheliomas
Stage IV mesotheliomas, as well as many
earlier-stage mesotheliomas, can't be
removed completely by surgery either
because of the extent or subtype of the
disease or because a person may not be
healthy enough for an operation.
Chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy may
shrink or slow the growth of the cancer for a
time. But these treatments are very unlikely to
result in a cure and can have their own side
effects. Before starting such treatments, the
goals of treatment should be clear to you and
your family.
In people with early-stage mesotheliomas
that are likely to grow slowly and are not
causing any symptoms, watching them closely
at first may be a reasonable option.
Treatment can then be started if there are
signs that the cancer is growing quickly or if it
starts to cause symptoms.

See Gobe: Federal Govt to ban Pure Water and Sachet Bags by 2014
despoliation of the environment, the
Federal Government yesterday said
plans are underway to ban the use of
plastic bags in the country. Minister of
Environment, Mrs. Hadza Mailafia, who
dropped the hint during the 2013 World
Environment Day celebration in Abuja,
said government would favour the use of
paper bags in their place.
Mailafia, who said the ban would take
effect from January 2014, also said the
Federal Government was also
considering banning the use of sachet
water.
According to her, the move to ban the
plastic bags are necessitated by the
numerous health and environmental
hazards associated with their use.
The minister noted that unlike the paper
bags that could easily decompose,
plastic bags are non-biogradable
materials which could stay in the soil for
years, contaminating water sources
when washed into the rivers by the rain.
Relying on the Food and Agriculture
Organisation, FAO's, statistics, the
environment minister said one-third of
global food production is wasted from
farm to stock which is equivalent to 1.3
billion tonnes of food annually; while an
estimated 870 million people go hungry
worldwide. She said more than 20, 000
children under the age of five also die
daily from hunger.
